An organic and instinctual painter, Artist Sarah Stockstill’s process relies on a foundation of several layers of texture that is applied and sanded back to get a smooth surface that lets her most immediate marks shine on the surface. Responding to color and forms, she follows as led. Sometimes into a deep horizon with traces of landscape, an organic jungle of pattern, a human figure, and every now and then an animal with an ethereal mystique. Sometimes the layering is broad, covering the entire canvas, and sometimes it is minute, focusing and embellishing a possible overlooked element of the painting which in turn becomes the center of interest. Most layers are created and taken away, leaving small traces whose threads become more important for doing so.

I love the print! It was the colors that I needed and loved. It was a little pricey for the Quality or texture of it. It seems a little flat in texture but not bad. The artist, D’Alessandro Léon, was the youngest of three brothers. When art competitions were a form of play for the brothers, it later grew into his obsession. D’Alessandro attended the Art Institute of California where he explored mixing mediums as well as digital. He also attended illustration, sculpting, and fine art workshops. After spending long periods of time studying different techniques, D’Alessandro’s art became increasingly influenced by artists from the early 1900s. During D’Alessandro’s studies, he painted many different themes. He painted with restless intensity, often painting from morning until night. D’Alessandro was able to indulge his earliest artistic preferences for people, nature, architecture, and landscapes in his illustration and personal pieces.

Although born and raised in Los Angeles, Artist Van Garret has been heavily influenced by traveling abroad to a multitude of countries, especially Iceland. Music is a big part of his life and it sparked his creativity even before he began painting. In fact, Van did not begin painting until he was in college and he is self-taught. “Art was something that was always in my genes. It makes me happy. I believe that every artist leaves a piece of themselves in their artwork. In turn, it makes me happy when people get to own part of those pieces to share with the world.” Van prefers working in liquid acrylics and watercolors because of their fluidity. “I like how the colors flow. I like to observe how the different shapes and mixtures come alive.” Van finds animals, humans and nature are his favorite subjects to paint. He is inspired by nature, people and music. When not painting, Van runs marathons, travels and plays the guitar.

Beverly Fuller was born and raised in the city of Los Angeles. As a young girl, she was fascinated with the vast diversity of the world around her. She conveyed that fascination with art and was praised by her teachers as a talented artist. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree from Whittier College and a Master of Arts from California State University, Los Angeles. After completing her education, Beverly Fuller spent the next year traveling all across the United States, soaking up inspiration that launched her into a creative journey of becoming a painter. Currently, she resides in Northern California with her husband and two daughters. Every other month, Beverly travels back down to her hometown of Los Angeles to immerse herself in the artistic community and to find her next muse.
