The 1/2" x 40" x 54" chair mat, for carpet works pretty well. It stays put which is really nice. My chair doesn't sink into it making it hard to roll after sitting in it for a while and it looks pretty nice, too. I do wish it was another four to six inches wider, but the 54" length is good for my desk. For my purpose a mat that was 46" x 60" would be perfect. I’ve only had this product for, like, half an hour, but I really like it. Seems to be good quality and sturdy. I have it on what I’d call medium pile carpet and my chair rolls fine, actually smoother than the cheap plastic thing with teeth I had before. I wish this wasn’t so pricey but I’m happy with what I got, so I can’t complain. This is a really thick chair mat! Heavy duty rubber backing and is definitely skid proof! I love the color and the size. My only thing is that if you have pets this mat is like velcro for dog hair. This is way more durable and attractive than I thought it would be. I did not understand how this could be both a rug and also a surface on which a heavy desk chair could roll. It is somewhat like a giant mouse pad, with a rubber bottom that grips our hardwood floors, and a soft, cloth like surface that does not snag on my desk chair’s casters. I ordered these chair mats recently and was a little surprised that they felt pretty cold when they arrived. If you’re ordering during the winter, I’d recommend letting them sit at room temperature for a while before unrolling them. Once they warmed up and I followed the instructions, they flattened out without any issues. So far they’ve been working really well. My chair glides smoothly on the carpet now, which is a big improvement from before. They also look nice and are easy to wipe clean, so maintenance has been simple. We’ve been looking for something to replace the rubber mat under our office chair couldn’t really find anything and then saw this and it worked out beautifully.
