We were very surprised at the quality, especially for the price. You can't buy the wood for what this pen cost. Assembly was also fairly easy ; it only took a couple of hours and our little Silkies {bantam chickens with white feathers that look like hair, black skin, and five toes} were all settled in. After just a few months the floor had rotted out, the doors warped and no longer closed securely, and the staples holding the screens started popping out and several of the birds got out and were killed by the neighbor's dog. This is a cute starter coop. I love the design, the extra locks, the slide out tray, the vented window, the roost bars, and the roof. Only thing is it will not last long. The wood was chipped in a couple places, but I was able to patch it with a bit of fiberglass. The wood is cheaply made and it was not what I expected for the price. With that being said I wouldn’t purchase this again, but it works for now and we will build around it. My 12 year old son and I had no problem assembling this in about an hour. I the wood is not as thick/sturdy as I had hoped. I think it will be excellent for our first 4 chickens. We will have it inside. Covered run with a water proof cover so hopefully it will last a little while. The bottom metal tray seems fragile. I hope it can withstand the weight of 4 chickens.
