This carpet I have had for 2 years in my bedroom. It is a mess. It stretched, his carpet pulls, it’s a poor, thin quality, didn’t realize this until I received it, and the color has faded on the carpet on the side I sleep on. This is a terrible, cheap looking carpet, and to me, it was not worth the price. It was supposedly handmade. I guess it would have faired better as a wall hanging. Such a disappointment.. Tj. "A richly expressive 4x6'5'' hand woven wool French needlepoint rug this traditional floral piece is defined by its flat 0.10"" cut pile cotton foundation and a warm inviting palette led by deep red and beige tones softened with ivory and subtle touches of teal. The design unfolds as a sweeping botanical arrangement where full-bodied roses and layered foliage form a loose wreath-like composition that feels abundant and balanced. The background allows the florals to breathe while the surrounding leaves and blossoms curve naturally along the length of the rug creating a gentle sense of movement. Needlepoint weaving brings a finely worked almost painterly quality to the flowers with careful shading that gives depth to petals and definition to leaves. Decorative yet approachable the rug carries enough visual richness to stand on its own while remaining adaptable making it well suited to spaces where warmth color and a touch of traditional craftsmanship can quietly enhance the rooms overall character."Story Behind the Art: French needlepoint rugs originated in 17th18th century France famously crafted in Aubusson and Savonnerie workshops for royal and aristocratic interiors. These rugs were heavily influenced by classical European art featuring floral medallions scrollwork garlands and pastel palettes. They were often used in palaces chteaux and salons woven with meticulous craftsmanship using the petit point and gros point techniques. By the late 20th century China became a major producer of French-style needlepoint rugs. Using centuries-old weaving and embroidery skills Chinese artisans began replicating Aubusson and Savonnerie designs on a global scale. Before you is a 4x6 hand-woven French needlepoint rug crafted from wool on a cotton foundation featuring a flat low cut pile that gives the surface a clear textile-like finish. The rugs design centers on a teal field organized into a repeating diamond lattice each section holding carefully rendered floral bouquets in shades of blush ivory sage and soft blue. These florals sit comfortably within the geometry creating a steady visual rhythm that feels structured without becoming rigid. A pale beige border frames the composition and echoes the interior motifs bringing continuity to the overall layout. What makes this rug distinctive is how naturally its detail unfolds; the needlepoint technique allows clean outlines and smooth color transitions while the wool pile adds warmth and durability without obscuring the pattern. Balanced composed and thoughtfully executed this rug rewards attention through its craftsmanship and proportion offering a design that remains engaging long after the first glance.Story Behind the Art: French needlepoint rugs originated in 17th18th century France famously crafted in Aubusson and Savonnerie workshops for royal and aristocratic interiors.
