The directions to assemble show that you can construct this with some of the shelves offset from one another. It actually looks pretty nice and if I had a bit wider space I might have tried it. Note, this took quite some time for my spouse and I to put together and in the future I'd just hired Taskrabbit for 50 bucks to do it.
