I got two of these and they are perfect. My father made some kind of extended anti-tipping wall anchors since I wanted the shelves on a wall with a baseboard heater so they were a bit far from the wall for the anchors they come with. This beam is constructed out of ¾” thick Aspen wood and is 6 1/2" tall. You choose the length and depth. Each piece of wood is unique and will have more or less character/knots than the other. It is designed to look like a solid beam without weight. The distressed beams are painted either black or white and have the edges sanded over and a brown stain/wax applied for a distressed look. The distressed beams will not be a solid color. Easy to install utilizing a French cleat mounting bracket which is included. Screws are not included. You will need to purchase 3" screws for the application you will be attaching the bracket to. Wood is considered a combustible material. Heat clearances must be adhered to. If installing over a fireplace, check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove.

We are enjoying our bookcase. The light color fits in just fine with the other colors of bookcases. It was pretty easy to put together. The only complaint we have is that the top has spaced out little holes in the front. My husband says he followed the directions, so I guess we have to fill in the holes. Hmmm.... Carolyn. I absolutely love this cabinet! It’s tall and elegant without taking up much floor space, making it perfect for smaller areas or awkward corners. The instructions were excellent, and I was genuinely impressed with how well engineered every piece was. There are a lot of parts, though—it took me about six hours to assemble.
