This was a big pain to install! Took about 7-8 hours with about 3 of us (we had 2 kids help us so we count them as half each because they were in and out with their "help" lol). Between making sure the bars didnt turn on you and only tightening at 70% but at the end having to find all 100 of the screws to tightening them.... it was a lot. Also I know the sides come with a warning, but please please remember the low ceilings when you have the bed frame up. Adults hits their heads 3 times each before we got the memo. Ouch! However, when all was said and done, my daughter was very happy. The bed edge makes me nervous for sleep purposes, but going to look into possibly a thinner mattress. Maybe even a bed rail of sorts. The bottom loft is very roomy. Has a lot of table space and even the drawers have a lot of room to them. I didn't realize they were cloth drawers, but they are nice and fit a lot. Love this bed! It has a few quirks, though. First, I think if possible, you should put the side of the without the stairs against a wall to prevent too much wobbling. I tried stairs to the wall and had some movement when climbing in the bed. As for the height, I am a 55 adult, and I only need to duck a small amount to fit under the bed, so this bed is great for short adults and teens! I had my 6 foot friend test it out for fun, and he definitely didnt fit. For roof space, that varies from person to person Im sure, I have had a bunk bed most of my life so being close to the roof doesnt bother me, but if you get claustrophobic easily, mesure your room first and then yourself to make sure you have a sufficient amount of space. The bed itself can not be put together alone. You need at least one other person to help because it becomes a lot quickly. The boards are held together by tension, and its very secure, and I havent had any issues with it (my weight is 185 for reference). The lights that come with the bed are kinda cheap though, the options on the remote dont match what the lights do, so if you want the LED lights to have colors like pink, orange, yellow and most greens (its mostly blue and teal settings) get another strip from a different brand. For mattress size, Im sure a slim is definitely the way to go, but if you have a thicker mattress and arent at risk for rolling off the bed, then youll be alright, just mesure the thickness first so you know how itll fit, honestly measuring things is key with this bed, as long as you are happy with whatever mesuments you get, youll love this bed..
