I purchased this to extend our usable space on our patio. It took 2 people about 5 hours in the Texas heat to put this together. We did have some experience with this type of assembly so that helped streamline things. It definitely needs to be anchored, but once it is the awning is quite stable. I ordered two of these and placed them sideways so that I could have a 16 wide and 24 feet long covered area. It definitely took four people about four hours to put up the first one but second one went a lot smoother after figuring out all the louvers. I’ve had it up for about a month so far with some pretty strong winds and so far so good. We did have a decent rain and it kept everything dry when I closed the louvers but then we had a torrential rain and it was just way too much for the small areas to hold so it definitely leaked in a few spots. Turned out nice. Had this professionally installed and mounted the post in concrete blocks to give more stability. The metal pieces itself is lightweight aluminum but when connected together it’s sturdy. Only gripe are the shade connector poles. Their means of connecting could be improved because they slide off & disconnect from one another every now & then but so far holds up well with rain when shade is pulled back.
