No snags from the dogs' nails and since it is such a good size and has such a great backing, it does not move when they are running around being rowdy. We love this vinyl carpet protector for our stairs. It looks very nice, is non-slip and confirms easily to the stairs and stays in place with a minimal number of staples. For as much as we paid for these carpet tiles they are very low quality. We are very disappointed in this purchase. They are not all cut to 18x18, some being cut slightly bigger so they don't line up evenly on the floor; the backing on most is not sticky enough and we've had to use carpet glue to get them to stick; I wouldn't consider them "dark" brown but more medium brown. It's a good thing we have leftovers because we will probably be replacing some very soon as they probably will not last. We ordered a total of 11 boxes, 5 of which shipped and were delivered very quickly. The rest took the scenic route and spent a lot of time traveling around the west, going from TX to CA and back again with some making a stop in AZ. These are self explanatory, I received 8 in the package. So far so good, they are very sticky and are holding up to my two large dogs sliding on the rug. I haven’t tried to remove to see if there is any marks left on the hardwood, as I don’t want to chance weakening the stickiness of them.
