Okay! SO- first time chicken owner here. We live in Maryland and are raising chicks and ducks from babies. We live in the woods and therefore have a ton of natural predators. The coop on its own is not SUPER sturdy, but not the worst quality I have seen and works well for a yard that slopes. There are some gaps, so we enclosed the top and bottom with hardware mesh stapled into the wood and secured with cement blocks just to be sure everything would be safe, and so far so good! The cover seems like it will be reasonable for the raincolder temps. Used Wayfair assembly service, which was good but it did take 3 men four hours to assemble just FYI. Overall, happy!. Anonymous. Havent decided where to set this up for the girls yet. Took a while to set up with one person, but did just fine (after realizing I had to disassemble a couple pieces backwards...oops). Definitely use the protective gloves, edges are very sharp. Arrived banged up and dented, but with some determination and bending while assembling, it didnt make a noticeable difference. The protective metal tray to retrieve the eggs is odd, perhaps need hinges vs screws But I just left them a bit loose to openshut easily. Also, use a regular screwdriver. Recommend this product!. There are six access points for easy access to all areas of the coop. Features three ventilation windows in the sleeping area to keep it well ventilated. Great starter coop! We ended up stapling chicken wire around the entire outside for extra protection and also added a second latch to the bottom of the door. Impressed with the amount of roosting space plus ground space. I plan on redoing the latches on the roosting boxes as they aren’t the strongest and predators “could” get in or my chickens could get out. We did have missing pieces to 4 of the latches and had to go buy some.
