This sculptural collection has the signature rounded and decidedly modernist aesthetic for which Lunares is so well known. The elegant giraffe sculpture with its extra-long neck is a whimsical addition to your bookshelves or creates a surprising jewelry display by stacking your favorite bracelets on its neck. These gorgeous Olivewood Giraffes are carved by hand by master carvers in Zimbabwe, with whom we have been working with for over 20 years. Giraffes are known throughout Africa for their natural curiosity. Twiza is the name for giraffe in the language of the Shona people of Zimbabwe. An old African folktale tells of God speaking to his newly created animals as to their purpose on earth. As God spoke to Twiza, she stretched her neck to heaven to hear more clearly. God was pleased and gave her a long, elegant neck so she could reach the leaves of the tallest trees - and as a sign to others that extra effort is rewarded.

So happy with my purchase! The giraffe was shipped with care. The giraffe made with Olive wood looks beautiful in person.. Diana. Florida. Tue Jan 20 2026
