Great shelf! Easy to install right into studs. One of the L-brackets was clearly less that 90° angle but it didn't actually make a difference. I hung it and everything is level. Color was accurate too. One thing to note: is is not a solid piece of wood. The one I received appears to be at least two pieces glued together. But, it was a pretty seamless joining so I am happy.. This beam is constructed out of ¾” thick Aspen wood and is 6 1/2" tall. You choose the length and depth. Each piece of wood is unique and will have more or less character/knots than the other. It is designed to look like a solid beam without weight. The distressed beams are painted either black or white and have the edges sanded over and a brown stain/wax applied for a distressed look. The distressed beams will not be a solid color. Easy to install utilizing a French cleat mounting bracket which is included. Screws are not included. You will need to purchase 3" screws for the application you will be attaching the bracket to. Wood is considered a combustible material. Heat clearances must be adhered to. If installing over a fireplace, check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove.

The wood is reclaimed barn rafter and has all of the characteristics that you would expect from reclaimed barn wood. Thick and sturdy with handmade raw metal brackets that wrap up around the front of the shelf. Please note that the brackets must be mounted into wall studs. Mounting hardware is included. Shelves come with set screws that go up throughout the bracket into the bottom of the shelf to eliminate any movement due to any imperfections in the reclaimed wood. Reclaimed wood is not perfect.

Really happy with this bookshelf. It’s sturdy and feels solid once assembled. I was able to put it together by myself without any issues, and the instructions were straightforward. The finish looks clean and modern, and it doesn’t wobble on my floors. I like that it’s tall but still slim, so it doesn’t take up much visual space. The shelves feel strong enough for decor, books, and heavier accent pieces. It looks more expensive than it is and fits nicely in a modern or neutral space. Only small note it helps to have a second person to hold pieces steady during a couple of steps, but it’s totally doable solo.
