they are sturdy once you have the dirt in them, but seem a bit flimsy when empty. Be careful filling them, as I had my neighbor help me fill with his john deer and we had to go very slowly and level the dirt in layers so it didnt warp the shape. Great garden bed. Instructions are vague as to the order of assembly and a bit tricky to assembly for one person because it's 4' x 8' (it's about 4" short of the 4x8 on both ends but still lots of room) but with a second person as extra set of hands, it went fairly quickly. The is contact paper is only on the outside of the panels. I suppose it's optional to remove but me being OCD, I removed it all. A bit time consuming but worth it. All the sides are 1 ft tall so the sides are two rows tall to get close to 2ft. Here's a tip to save you time... make sure the bottom of the top row panel overlaps on the outside of the top of the bottom row panel. Keep everything UNTIGHTENED until it's all together. Then go around and tighten it up. The rubber stripping is nice. It's snug and you get more than you need to be prepared to cut it to length. Consider wearing some kind of protective gloves so you don't get cut on the edges... I didn't wear any but I was diligent in handling the panels. Overall, great garden bed. Buddy. Bartlett, IL. I looked at many raised bed planters and read lots of reviews before deciding on this one. Putting it together revealed just how well made and sturdy it is. All metal with 4 metal support rods. No need for the black rubber trim other raised beds tout (which will begin to loosen in the first rain and ultimately be useless) because the edge is filed smooth and bent inward.
