These paired shelving units were just what my small business was looking for to store our store's product. Each unit took about 1/2 hour to assemble with two people working together. First the item is very heavy in the box. If you are by yourself, I recommend getting help or open the box where it's at and bring it in piece by piece. As far as assembly went, it was by far one of the easier pieces this self-proclaimed DIY expert has done. Make sure you have a decent sized space to work with. There is some hammering needed for the frame. It comes with a small mallet but if you have a regular sized rubber mallet, I encourage you to use it. Depending on your height you may need a step ladder. I'm 5'2 and was able to put this together in just under 2 hours. I purchased the 3-shelf size, 36" H X 48" wide. It holds my entire cookbook collection and does double duty as a divider between the foyer and kitchen/dining area. Beautiful, heavy wood in the mission style. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the backing. I wish furniture manufacturers would stop to consider that not every piece of furniture is going to be put against a wall, so it would be nice to have a decent backing.
