Beautiful table! Easy to assemble with 2 people. (I would definitely recommend 2 people, I don't even know how it would be possible for 1 person...) The finish is not a dark brown/walnut, it has an orange tint to the wood tone. Can seat 6 people comfortably. (I highly doubt you can fit 8 people.) It's almost been a year and the table is still standing. We use it every night for our family of 5, and it's the go to table when guests arrive. HOWEVER, the table is starting to become squeaky. Any time you apply weight to the tabletop, or try to move the table, it squeaks.... LOUDLY. We've lubricated all the screws and joints, placed felt between the joining wood parts, and tightened the screws. It still makes A LOT of noise. We would LOVE to find a remedy to this problem, because we LOVE the table. I give this table/chair set 2 stars due to 1) the quality and condition of the pieces received, mostly related to the chairs and 2) the difficulty in assembling. Several pieces arrived chipped or with the wood deformed, making one of the chairs impossible to put together. We had to send this chair back. For several of the other chairs in this set we had to buy a wood pen to color in the chipped areas. It was disappointing to buy a new table set and have it look like it had been used. Separately, assembly took awhile to figure out as none of the individual pieces were labeled and the diagram did not show accurate renderings of the pieces. This led to many stops and re-dos before we finally got it right. Overall I would question the quality control on this product and would neither purchase again nor recommend.. Anonymous.
