It is very nice and more sturdy that I thought it would be. We didn’t bolt it to the deck because we didn’t want to drill into Trex. But we did bolt it to the house which worked good. The instructions are a little confusing in some parts because the pictures are tiny. And after I sliced my finger pretty good on the metal roof, I understood why they give you gloves. Razor sharp. These pergolas up-leveled my small back patio. I ordered two and I am very pleased with the look, ease of assembly (you need two people), and quality. The actual dimensions are closer to 9x9, so measure accordingly. I had to use two panels to screen an unsightly view, and I am awaiting delivery of two more panels. I love the pattern of light filtered through the panels. For me, this was a perfect solution. I assembled with my BF in about 2.5 hours. The challenging part was the tight space we had to work. Unfortunately, our HOA requires everything to be approved and it just so happens that where we wanted to place this is not be allowable because of it blocking a Neighbors walking past that we were unaware of. However, I still wanted to submit a review to say that this product seems sturdy and I loved how it had more than one option on how to assemble it freestanding or against the side of a buildinghouse. The shipment packaging is extremely well done and even though there was damage to the boxes, the product was sufficiently protected had no damage due to shipping. The 12x20 pergola I ordered is close to 1000 pounds shipping in 7 boxes so the heaviest single box is about 150 lbs so two people are needed to move it around. The instructions recommended 4 people for the install. I had my brother to help but due to the weight I wanted 6 people (one at each post) to move the assembled product to minimize damage to the frame. High quality parts all around but because it’s all aluminum that is great for lower weight but it is still 1/2 ton of weight that needs to be moved around during an installation.
