These Hevea butcher block countertops were just what I wanted for my new office. They were well packaged and arrived without damage. A few coats of matte poly were easy to apply. Nice smooth edges too so no additional sanding needed. They were less than half the cost of what I could get through my local big box DIY store. I think the wood is airbrushed It looks nice, is real wood, and when assembled is SOLID. The top unfortunately isn’t stone, ifs plastic, I’ll need to buy a countertop wrap for it. Assembly was a pain but worth it. The drawers don’t come all the way out. I’ll need to fix the drawers with other hardware, they only come half way out, and I’ll need to buy more wood to build a pan storage like I saw on another review. This thing is great! It took longer than expected to receive the countertop but it arrived in immaculate condition and looks amazing. I put on 3 thin coats of wipe-on water based satin polyurethane to protect it and sanded lightly with steel wool in between coats. When I started ordering furniture 2 years ago the instructions and how the screws and bolts were identified was awesome. Now they are all thrown in a bag together. This is perfect in terms of looks from a distance, though not the highest quality. I’ve had to touch up the color on a few places and it’s particle board, so not great. If you can afford a more expensive one, I would recommend spending more. But the higher quality ones didn’t deliver to my address, so I used the DIY method and assembled this with not too much difficulty. Best parts are the cupboards and drawers that open from both sides, and the real wood surface.
