It took longer than expected to receive the countertop but it arrived in immaculate condition and looks amazing. I put on 3 thin coats of wipe-on water based satin polyurethane to protect it and sanded lightly with steel wool in between coats. The polyurethane really brought out the color without adding too much sheen - it is gorgeous. I know there were some unfavorable reviews for this countertop but I recommend it highly.. Terrell. It feels substantial and sturdy, and the shelving underneath gives us tons of extra storage. Assembly took about 2 hours with two people, but the instructions were straightforward and the finished product was definitely worth the time. It is not real wood, so I would be careful with the surface—I wouldn’t place hot pans directly on it or set drinks down without a coaster. That said, it looks and feels like a much more expensive piece of furniture once assembled. We are using ours as a homeschool craft and project table, and it is PERFECT for that! These Hevea butcher block countertops were just what I wanted for my new office. They were well packaged and arrived without damage. A few coats of matte poly were easy to apply. Nice smooth edges too so no additional sanding needed. They were less than half the cost of what I could get through my local big box DIY store. I think the wood is airbrushed It looks nice, is real wood, and when assembled is SOLID. The top unfortunately isn’t stone, ifs plastic, I’ll need to buy a countertop wrap for it. Assembly was a pain but worth it. The drawers don’t come all the way out. I’ll need to fix the drawers with other hardware, they only come half way out, and I’ll need to buy more wood to build a pan storage like I saw on another review. This thing is great! Not marked, The instructions don't help identify them. Half the stuff that you MUST use is not in the instructions, you have to guess where to use it and how. Its ridiculous. This is the best quality thing Ive bought from Wayfair, ever! Ive assembled furniture for almost 30 years and Ive never seen a better quality item! The directions were clear, the parts clearly labeled, and the hardware pieces were bagged by group and also clearly labeled. Ive never seen hardware so clearly labeled. Usually furniture that you put together uses wooden or plastic towels, screws, and bolts with cams that you turn to lock. The interlocking pieces for this item actually had multiple flip locks built into the pieces and the dowels were already firmly installed. They werent flimsy wooden ones, either.
