I’ve got a fairly long and steep concrete driveway that is starting to show its age a little bit. There has been some minor cracking from the freeze-thaw cycle each winter. I decided to try the Armour SX5000 water-based sealant to see if it would improve the situation. I have delayed writing this review for a bit as I wanted to driveway to go through at least one winter season. I first pressure washed the entire driveway surface which is pretty time consuming. I then applied the Armour sealant with a manual pump sprayer. This part went fairly quickly. The trick is to get the sealant covering the driveway well, but not so much as to create puddles that aren’t absorbed. I made sure there was no rain in the forecast for a couple of days. Initially, I did half of the driveway first and the first day that it rained the difference on the two sides was very noticeable. Water on the coated side was beading and running off and on the other side it was being absorbed into the concrete. Love the look!! Going to look great on our cupola. The balls feel plastic but that’s probably a good thing where weather is concerned. Overall it’s heavy and sturdy. Also purchased the lacquer to protect it. Only complaint is there’s no instructions or hardware provided to secure the weathervane to your cupola or roof. Not hard to figure out how to put together, but some bolts or screws or something to secure it would have been nice. UPDATE: hard to keep secured to the cupola the way the bottom is made. We have it bolted in but twice within a year now we’ve had to climb back on the roof because severe storms have knocked it over since its hinged with only two “flaps” of metal.
