I bought this for my Airbnb guests to plop down and take their shoes off. I needed something strong enough to handle anyone's heavy plop, and smooth enough to keep clean. This is a great sturdy bench and shoe storage area for an entrance of a house. It was very easy to put together, except the directions were not clear enough on the final four screws that connect the top to the sides, I accidentally pushed it too tight and they pressed through the top of the bench.
