This standing computer desk took just under an hour to assemble. It was easy to do by myself. Some pieces did come with some damage as you can see in the pictures above but they are mostly hidden so it does not really matter to me . Delivery was not so great, box looked like it had gone through a battlefield. Luckily there was no damage parts inside the box. The desk took me about an hour to put together. After days of obsessively flipping through every page for a writing desk I found the perfect one for me. Set aside some time to assemble this one; there's more pieces than you'd anticipate, and the directions could certainly be more detailed. However, if a non-mechanically inclined person like me can assemble this desk by themselves you can too! Tip, whatever step you're on that includes the round screw locks be sure to get them all in while you have the hand space to do so, and always make sure the two primary table top pieces are facing the right way with the smooth sides facing up. It took me 5 1/2 hours to assemble by myself, but as I said I'm also not the first person you'd call to fix or assemble things. The results? The desk is as beautiful and functional as I'd hoped it would be, and it arrived within only a few days of ordering it. This is probably a psychological effect, but I especially like the walled border because it helps me focus on what's in front of me. The drawers open smoothly but they do make slight sound as it sort of scrapes along the metal. The drawers don’t have stoppers so COULD fall on toes BUT they’re so deep that I can’t imagine that happening. We do plan to remedy that in some way because it for our 7yo son, but not necessary for older kids or adults. chair opening is very large which makes it nice for widercrossed-legged chairs.
