Excellent bookshelf with a high-end industrial look I purchased this bookshelf to display books, military memorabilia, family photos, and a few decorative pieces, and it exceeded my expectations. Assembly was straightforward and all of the parts fit together properly. Once assembled, the unit felt sturdy and stable, even when loaded with heavier items. This shelf set is what I expected for the price. The pine is a 2 grade, has been stained, but not top coated. The wood is sturdy enough, kiln dried, and reasonably well stained. I applied several coats of polyurethane to it and it looks excellent. As the wood ages even the color tones will even out. For the price this has been an excellent value and easy to work with. For the price I did not expect AAA wood. But, considering the cost of such items, this was solid by comparison and with a little work looks like a high grade item. I would absolutely recommend this. I used three coats of hand applied satin polyurethane and the finished effect was something you typically see only in upgraded or premium priced items. We specifically bought this bookcase because the description stated the shelves were metal. Upon arrive, however, the shelves were MDF (manufactured wood) which is the very thing we were trying to avoid.
