It is designed to look like a solid beam without weight. The distressed beams are painted either black or white and have the edges sanded over and a brown stain/wax applied for a distressed look. The distressed beams will not be a solid color. Easy to install utilizing a French cleat mounting bracket which is included. Screws are not included. You will need to purchase 3" screws for the application you will be attaching the bracket to. Wood is considered a combustible material. Heat clearances must be adhered to. If installing over a fireplace, check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove.

I decided on and purchased this mantle for many reasons. 1) It being a Pearl Mantle let me know it would be made with quality. 2) It’s real wood and not some sort of plastic or pressed board. 3) it’s decorative and accentuates my decor perfectly and 4) the cost wasn’t cheap, but wasn’t unreasonably high! It arrived nicely packed, but I took one star away as it did not come with the 2 inch wood screws needed to do its install! It also did not come with instructions for installation. This meant searching online for instructions and having to go get the screws needed for the install. It’s beautiful and we love it. It didn’t come with hardware to attach to the bed frame, but it was easy enough to attach once we had the hardware. We had read on other reviews it did not come with the hardware so we were aware ahead of time. We still loved the look of this enough to purchase it anyway.
