Came very well packaged. I had a handyman install it. He did not seem to have any problems. It is controlled by the remote. The wall outlet (?) only turns the unit off. This is great quality fan. The base is nice and sturdy and there is zero wobble. Nice quite fan. The part that I did not like was the light; it is big and there is a separate light stripe border that can be turned on independent of the main light. The light border is color changing. The reason I gave it five starts is because I was the only one who did not like the light portion; everyone else in my family thought that it was really cool. So far I love these fans. Ordered them together (2) so they would match rooms that are next to each other. The light is bright enough for large rooms, but can be dimmed, It has 6 speeds which is more than my last fans (only had 3), sturdy, so much lighter than my old ones and easy to put together (per hubby). The real wood blades are nice and very light weight. The wind speed works well for our living room and kitchen. Remote is easy to use and I like that there is a timer on the fan also of 1, 4 and 8 hours. There are 3 light settings so you can choose soft, day, and very bright (the bluish type) to fit your room needs. We like the soft one for the living room and the medium one for the kitchen.
