This classic statue evokes timeless beauty in the idyllic form of one of Rome's great men. Cast directly from the original scaled Roman statue of ca. 50 B.C. by the sculptor Kleomenes. The Nude male statue, erroneously identified as Germanicus, a member of the family of the Emperor Augustus, probably should be considered a portrait of a member of a wealthy family of the late Republic. It is here represented with a body copied from a well-known statue of the god Hermes (Mercury), the Orator, which stood in Athens. This nude male sculpture is executed in the classicizing style popular in the 1st century B.C. when sculptors like Kleomenes looked for inspiration to the masters of the 5th and 4th centuries in Greece. A distinctive addition to your home or garden gallery, this exclusive work echoes the fine sculptures seen on European estates.

When King Leonidas and the three hundred Spartan Hoplites under his command held off the Persian army at the Thermopylae pass, the courage and sacrifice of these Greek warriors entered into the realm of legend for evermore. The wealth of detail, added to the decoration, the precisely modeled anatomy and the meticulous ornamentation demonstrate an extraordinary degree of virtuosity. Made in black porcelain and decorated with metallic copper, blue and black enamels. The shield is painted with black luster with a marble effect while the helmet is decorated with aged silver luster. The result is a striking and powerful figure that is at once noble and elegant.
