The assembly instructions don’t tell you how to insert the gold pieces, so I’m sharing the trick here. You won’t be able to push in the gold pieces with your fingers and the holes will seem too small, but the pieces will fit - you have to use a mallet. Tilt the piece and use your mallet to gently tap in one edge of the piece so that it lodges crookedly in the hole. I really like the design of this table - it's attractive, and the benches are stable and a nice height. Star deducted because during the assembly, the table top pieces had to be joined with bolts, and they aren't quite aligned (by, probably about 1/3 inch). I think this would drive some people crazy.
