The idea behind this is brilliant. I just wasn't so sure about the dimensions provided to order the correct item for my lights - and I didn't. The outside width is 5" and the inside clips to hold inside the recessed can are 4." If this lasts less than the 50,000 hours advertised, I would be hesitant as throwing away a single light bulb seems environmentally preferable to throwing away this entire apparatus. One star deducted for lack of adequate dimensions in the listing. I didn't get to try the various settings because, alas, my smallest can light is actually 6 inches, so I'll have to try the appropriate size. This commercial grade downlight is ideal for new construction when specified with a 4" x 2 1/8" square or octagonal J box. It is also conveniently UL Listed for wet conditions only indoor wet locations such as above a shower. For exterior they would need to be installed in damp location such as a covered porch, soffit, etc.. A place where the fixtures would not receive direct saturation.

Honestly I haven’t had the chance to install this yet but I have several friends that have used these before and it didn’t seem to be difficult. When we remodeled our bathroom, we encountered a wall that could not be moved, leaving us with a smaller shower space than desired with less natural daylight. Haven’t installed yet, but these were a great value on sale! I’ve seen some places charging 80 per light and the cheapest other option was still 40. Since I have to buy a large volume of these, a savings of 5-10 per light realllllly adds up! I love this light. It recesses nicely into the ceiling, dims well without any flickering. Lighting temperature is adjustable, however the fixture must be removed to change.
