I’m not qualified to say a product is Commercial Grade material; however, I will say it is a hard plastic and not a rubber material. Everything sort of snapped together except for the top and I had to have help. Getting the hooks snapped to the lid was very difficult. Overall, I like these a lot. I wanted something sturdy and basic in this room which houses my home office because I also have a lot of dumbbells and they were on a weight rack which I found to be somewhat unsightly. I had to deduct a star because I could not get the latches attached to the lid, no matter how hard I tried and the pre-drilled holes for the hinges were really not acceptable. In both of these chests, the middle pre-drilled hole was missing entirely. The others were just barely drilled and so I had to ask a friend to come over and help me get the screws fully screwed in.
