This beam is constructed out of ¾” thick Aspen wood and is 6 1/2" tall. You choose the length and depth. Each piece of wood is unique and will have more or less character/knots than the other. It is designed to look like a solid beam without weight. The distressed beams are painted either black or white and have the edges sanded over and a brown stain/wax applied for a distressed look. The distressed beams will not be a solid color. Easy to install utilizing a French cleat mounting bracket which is included. Screws are not included. You will need to purchase 3" screws for the application you will be attaching the bracket to. Wood is considered a combustible material. Heat clearances must be adhered to. If installing over a fireplace, check your local building codes and the manufacturer's instructions for your specific fireplace insert or stove.

We do not add to or take away from any of the natural distressing that has occurred from decades of use. You will see nail holes, screw holes, nails, discoloration, scratches, dents, and many other variations. Each of these markings is a glimpse into the history of your shelves. You may see holes from a mortise and tenon joint or other time-honored wood joining techniques. You may notice where a hinge or hook is used to hang. Absolutely love these shelves!! We need the perfect something for the kitchen wall that had no cabinets and these shelves were definitely it. Perfect size and fit for what we wanted. Look great and so easy to install. It has a video that shows yiu exactly how to install them. Maybe took 10 minutes to have them both up and sturdy on the wall.
