The item is as pictured and is lovely. Treat it like a wreath the first couple of days up, spritzing with water to let the rope and basket recover from shipping. It will settle into its best configuration that way. If you don’t have food or plants in it yet, mix a little Pine Sol in the spritz water to remove rope and woven basket smells in your kitchen. I just purchased a faux bamboo tree and two hanging faux baskets. This basket is good looking and looks real for a faux hanging basket I hung it in my kitchen and looks very nice The other ivy basket was a big no . I’m thinking of returning it …..really fake looking. On the other hand this basket I would recommend .not sure if I like the lights , I might turn them on for Christmas . The self-watering feature prevents overwatering and underwatering as long as the drainage plug on the bottom of the planter is removed. This is because the water level will always drop to the top of the overflow drain. Your plant will then absorb the water as needed. If you're worried about underwatering and/or if it's hard to tell if the plant is dry, then we recommend watering frequently to avoid any chance of underwatering. That ensures there is always water available in the reservoir. Just make sure the drainage plug is removed so that the water does not overfill the reservoir, potentially causing watering-logging and root rot.
