The solid rubber backing keeps the mat firmly in place and anything that drips on it is easily cleaned up, which is great for where I placed it, in front of the sink. Overall I am very happy with this rug. But be warned that the color is very different than pictured. In daylight, it is more of a graygreen and darker than photos. This mat is fine, but it’s not exactly what I was looking for. It has the extra width which is a priority for me, but I don’t really care for the textured top. That’s on me though as it wasn’t something I could be sure of from the online photos. I also needed it to be thicker like other mats I’ve had, but it falls just a tad short there. On the plus side it has a good solid heft to it and it lays flat. Will probably want to anchor it to the floor with those double-sided sticky corner adhesives because I have to have it aligned with the tile at all times (it’s a Virgo thing) and any mat you buy is going to shift a little. We love this vinyl carpet protector for our stairs. It looks very nice, is non-slip and confirms easily to the stairs and stays in place with a minimal number of staples. I had a very hard time finding vinyl stair protector runners. Others were dangerously slippery and did not stay on the stairs even with lots of staples and nails.
