The touch feeling is smooth, and it will be stain-resistant, just wipe with wet cloth could take good care of it.

I only deed the 2 shelf bookcase. It was fairly easy to put together. The instructions were clear. I was able to put it together by myself in about an hour. It looks nice. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it is particle board with a sort of paper veneer, almost like Contac paper. This is a great sturdy and handsome piece of furniture. Made of beautiful hard wood and metal frame. The finish is a little darker than I thought it would be, but still a perfect match for my bedroom, where I use it for my computer, printer and other items. There are adjustable feet at the bottom of the four legs, in case your floor is uneven, etc. This is a really nice piece. Unlike some other folks here who left reviews, mine does not have any strange or strong scent. It smells completely fine and normal. Everything came well packaged, with just the right amount of packing materials. There was a slight (very small) chip on the very bottom of the shelf I used on the bottom. Not from shipping, likely a small defect in manufacturing. They offered me a 15% discount and I accepted. I turned that shelf to face the back and I am satisfied. The bookcase itself is very nice, but some holes didn't line up when putting it together. Also the top portion and the bottom portion do not line up flush across the front. They are offset from each other. I did not see anything explaining that the pegs that hold the shelves are made of plastic. I love just about everything about this little bookshelf. It is a beautiful blue color and just the right size. Assembly was easy and I love that the back isn't cardboard. The shelves are very nice. The only reason I'm giving it a 4-star is because the wrong screws were supplied with the anchors. They were too small and wouldn't hold up the shelf.
