The color variation (“gradient”) is less than is shown in the product photos. The shades are a linen-look, off-white. The USB port is next to the cord outlet worked fine in an overnight test. The switch is a rotary type. The shades were easy to assemble, but the metal rings are not covered like they would be in a pre-assembled shade. I love them! They look just like the picture. The only tiny detail that bothers me is you can see the shadows of the metal clips that hold the shades together (see pic close-up of shade).
