Even though the website description in the product overview says it has a tight closing lid, the photo of it clearly shows the two cut-outs contradicting the description. Wayfair, you need to fix your product overview description, as it isn't accurate. Im keeping it though. It's attractive, the price is right and the assembly was a piece of cake.
