Just what I was looking for in a real solid wood kitchen island on a budget! It fits our space & is a basic style for a good price. It is a soft wood (fir) so you do have to be gentle with it & it did come with some shipping/packaging character marks, but our style is rustic/vintage so it works just fine. I actually modified it by cutting off the bottom 2” on each leg & adding rollers so it is easily moveable by just one person. It is not real wood, so I would be careful with the surface—I wouldn’t place hot pans directly on it or set drinks down without a coaster. That said, it looks and feels like a much more expensive piece of furniture once assembled. We are using ours as a homeschool craft and project table, and it is PERFECT for that! I think the wood is airbrushed It looks nice, is real wood, and when assembled is SOLID. The top unfortunately isn’t stone, ifs plastic, I’ll need to buy a countertop wrap for it. Assembly was a pain but worth it. The drawers don’t come all the way out. I’ll need to fix the drawers with other hardware, they only come half way out, and I’ll need to buy more wood to build a pan storage like I saw on another review. This thing is great! Overall pretty simple to put together…. Took me about 1.5 hours, but I put the towel bar and wheels on after the legs since my kitchen is tight on space and wasn’t sure they would work. Smaller hands make assembly a bit easier since some of the connections are in not easily assessable areas. The long and medium bolts are the same length! The Allyn wrench provided is too long, so used a smaller one I had that worked better for me. I love the quality and look of my new Boos butcher block island. My only complaint is that I wished the drawers were two inches longer so they lined up with the block and therefor provide additional space.
