So we like and dont like this freezer. It was the most affordable ULT freezer we could find and got right down to -40, which is what we needed it for. However, when we get a power surge, even though the freezer is plugged into a surge protector, the compressor doesnt kick back on as the freezer starts to get warmer. Twice since buying it in early July we have had power surges and the power flickers in the house for a single second and comes right back on. Like even the clocks around the house (like on the microwave) dont reset like they do in a full outage. The freezer stays programmed at the temp we set, which is -40, but the compressor doesnt turn on so it heats up and destroys the food. Weve lost 400 in food so far. You have to physically unplug the freezer and replug it in to reset the compressor.
