The dark purple is a great color - file cabinets are fine for the price point. One of the two I ordered has a sizable dent on one corner. It it was to be in a corner or not viewable from two sides, I would be ok with it. However, it is being used to support wood for a desk in a brand new church office and plain to see. I really love these nightstands! They came fully assembled, which made setup incredibly easy. They were also packaged very securely and arrived in perfect condition. I love that they have three drawers, providing plenty of storage space for all my bedside essentials. They’re also the perfect height for my bed. I can easily reach anything on top without having to sit up or stretch too far. Arrived quickly and was packaged well. Parts had no damage on them from delivery which was a plus. Assembly was pretty simple, I did it myself (34F). I have this one, along with the nightstand and dresser from this collection. They are all very nice looking and the particle board is a nicer particle board than I’m used to. The file cabinet looks great. It had a lot of pieces, but we got it together. Unfortunately, the locking mechanism doesn't work properly. If we install the mechanism as directed, then the top drawer will not close. If we install only the bottom drawer mechanism, then both drawers close, but only the top drawer locks. It will work for me but I can't lock the drawers as intended. It would be impossible to assemble and return. This is a heavy file cabinet. I love the color. Works for me: Upside: The dark charcoal/grey color is really nice; they hold files just fine; if I had to... I think they [I got two] would hold a light table top. Downside: the top drawer is raw metal and ribbed. It would be nice if the two file drawers locked instead of the little top drawer and the file drawer below it (but I knew that when I ordered it). If you just want the color black I saw what looked to be the same at the big "w" mart store for about $50 (2/3/20).
