These whiskey barrel planters are great. Our family has had three more just like them for 16 years. One is used as a small water feature with a bamboo fountain and the other two as traditional planters. Because of the size and material the soil does not dry out too quickly. For these two new ones, I've converted them into self-watering planters using sturdy 22 inch saucers and 1/2 inch solid-braid nylon rope for wicking the water up into the soil. I love this set of 2 planters. They are 24 inches tall and have a removable drip tray insertshelf about halfway down the planter. It has drainage holes so the plant can still drain like normal, but you don’t have to fill the entire planter with potting soil. The planters feel very durable and made from good quality materials. The bottom of the planter comes off, which I assume will be helpful later for cleaning or drainage. The company also included very easy instructions if you need them. I always read reviews before purchasing. I’m so glad I didn’t go with the ones saying the planter is orange which isn’t a bad thing as I was looking for brownish-orange planters which is their color! I purchased two planters and they look exactly like the stock photo no, better! The one in the the first pic appears lighter because my window, which gets lots of sunlight, was shining on it. The second pic is without the sun. They are gorgeous! I love the texture, size and sturdiness of them and they will go perfectly with my home’s brick color.
