File cabinet is a nice piece of furniture but it was a beast to assemble. It took me six hours to assemble it; two of the six hours could have been avoided if I have secured the cabinet to the wall. The dark purple is a great color - file cabinets are fine for the price point. One of the two I ordered has a sizable dent on one corner. It it was to be in a corner or not viewable from two sides, I would be ok with it. However, it is being used to support wood for a desk in a brand new church office and plain to see. Took 24 minutes to build and was very easy to put together. Scan the code and watch the video much easier then looking at the pictures. The photo showed a height of 24.8" its actually 25.2" which made it not fit under my desk but the specifications shows 26" so should've read that. I removed a star because it took almost 3 hours to put together, and that was an experienced handyman that did it. He said it was very involved. This cabinet has to be fully assembled when it arrives. My husband and I assembled it for my mother. The instructions could be kind of vague at times which made putting it together a little tricky. Once it's built it's pretty solid/sturdy. However the lock doesn't work, once you lock it, it won't unlock. The key turns as if it unlocked but it doesn't actually drop the bar all the way to drop the pins back down. But we figured out the lock is useless for actual security because you just need to pull the middle drawer to the side enough to see the pin and then use a knife to push it down the rest of the way. Once we did that my mom decided to never lock it again. It does the job and it's sturdier than I expected it to be. Just don't count on it to be super secure.. Anonymous. Mon Feb 16 2026
