I bought this frame for future artwork. I’m an artist and I haven’t been extraordinarily productive recently, and I thought this frame would look great in my bedroom and as soon as I have the opportunity, I’m going to do a piece to frame in it. This is a nice picture frame, especially for the price. It wasnt really what I wanted once I got it because the matting and background are huge compared to the little space the picture goes in and it looks a little strange to my eye. First things first, the frame does seem to be constructed of wood but the 'wood grain' finish is a veneer. If you're hoping for a raw wood look this may not be the frame you want. That being said, it is a very well-constructed frame and I was so thrilled to get it in a size that's otherwise difficult to find (6"x6"). Acrylic really does have superior clarity when compared to glass - it will scratch much more easily, of course, but so long as the frame isn't in a high-traffic spot that really shouldn't be an issue..
