When delivered, its surface has been oxidized for some time, explaining the colors it takes on. They will continue to change as time goes by like a watercolor painting of nature, recording the color of the wind, the smell of sunlight, and the temperature of moisture. Each records the wonderful and magical changes of nature in its own way. It doesn't require extra chemical handling. Spraying water would expedite the color changing if preferred. Place it anywhere, leave it to the brush of nature. Outside, it sings a bit of diversity to your garden poetry. Indoors, it blows a breath of fresh air. Bad quality. This planter appears to be a cheap knockoff version of another planter that I've ordered in the past and paid more for. The delivered planter looks NOTHING like the photos of it. It's got a cool greenish-blue tint and the glaze is really sloppy and uneven, especially at the foot. This rustic terra cotta pot is given its unique character by using a centuries old, handmade process using canvas lined molds and traditionally fired kilns then rubbed by hand with dried moss and let to sit outdoors to naturally age which gives it a one-of-a-kind natural patina. Each piece is distressed using old clay to add texture and individually handled so natural ware such as gentle chips and variation in color are to be expected and embraced.
