I’ve been wanting something like this for a while. This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Something very sturdy to hold my heavier cats something I’m not gonna worry is going to tip over. This was difficult to put together as the instructions were not clear. We opted to not use the included wood glue (it would not actually hold the wood in place) and use gorilla glue instead. We also did not use the large dowel rods to make the small fence. I felt it could trap my cat's leg and cause an injury. We took the top section and glued it directly to the base to cover the pre drilled holes. There were a few other small issues, no holes drilled for the hammock, and the pine oil was still heavy in parts. We decided to glue the hammock and I just wiped the pine oil off with a towel in the thick areas and it all came off. This cat tree is wonderful! The box was heavy! It was so easy to assemble. It’s very sturdy, I’ve had it for almost three years and it is so stable even with two “kittens” who are now over a year old (and very hardy eaters) chasing each other up and down it. I have no concerns about it falling over at all. The best part is NO CARPET! I hate carpet on cat trees, it gets so gross and I always ended up throwing them away after a year! This tree has paid for itself as it’s so easy to dust or vacuum! I’ve saved money by not buying a new cheap one every year. Even after 3 years with 4 cats who lay on it daily, including the two kittens climbing it, playing on it and scratching it, it’s still very sturdy, in great condition and the sisal is not at all loose!. The bottom metal piece is extremely heavy and it is so difficult to screw in the 3 metal bars from the bottom. The screws took forever to get going and were very difficult to screw in. When we used a drill, it snapped the screw in half. There’s no soft surface for the cats either, you have to put something separate on top.
