Looks great and love the slow close lids. My only gripe is that the cans are pretty small so we have to take out the recycling way more often than we did with our old can. The battery compartment took forever to open and not knowing what the clasp inside looked like to force it made it harder. Its like Fort Knox or something. I dont have a lot of hand strength anymore but directions say to squeeze the opening and that doesnt work at least on mine. Its all black so hard to see but how can you squeeze and hold the item and grab the door to open it The part you push was flush with the hole well its hard to explain but I couldnt find the moving part. Finally got it and posted pics so maybe it helps someone else. When I closed it the tab stayed out a little and not flush again so it should be fine. Right away I loved its look. I had a vintage French rustic push peddle can that was really pretty but had a lot of issues. My first motion sensor can and I think my special adult kid will think its fun to throw away things so fingers crossed. I searched carefully for a trashcan that would both look good in the kitchen and be the right size for a small household (1- 2 people). This one is perfect. I chose platinum because I didn’t want it to be too shiny. It’s tall enough (26 inches) to hold a 13 gal., tall kitchen trash bag, but narrow enough (11.5 inch diameter) that I can still open my cabinets. (See photos.) The capacity is only 8 gallons, but if the bag has a drawstring, it’s easy to make a 13-gal. gal bag fit well. It fits perfectly and tucks neatly into the corner nook next to our cabinets and doesn't feel bulky despite the two compartments. The side handle makes it easy to move for cleaning, and the pedals are solid. I had to take a star off due to it arriving with a visible dent along the lower side that was not caused in shipping (the box was in perfect shape). It doesn't affect function, but it's disappointing and I'd suggest inspecting it closely on arrival before deciding whether to keep or exchange.
