I bought this so I could slice my own meat. Works great from paper-thin to about a 1/2 inch thick. Also works well with veggies, great for a stir fry. Tip make sure the meat is very cold or slightly frozen ( put it in the freezer for about 45 minutes. And no bones. IT WILL NOT cut through bones. Also, with turkey or chicken, it shaves it instead of slicing on the part you have cut off before. So it is best to leave the turkey or chicken breast whole if you want to slice it.. Paul. US. Just wanted to say first off , it my first time ever using a device like this . there was trouble with shipping being delayed. It has no instructions to put together or how to use it and I kinda wish it had an option for left-handed. I’m struggling to take the blade off to wash it. I believe there’s a safety mechanism because it gets stuck lock up when I go slide it back it’s caught But other than that, it works good. I really enjoy the amount I saved in grocery bill. This machine is fantastic. I looked for a used slicer but the high quality machines were from supermarkets. Too big and heavy. I looked at some very excellent Chinese slicers but I decided to spend a little more for the Berkel. This slicer is not light but I can easily carry it around the kitchen. It slices prosciutto tissue thin. Instead of paying $15 pound for sliced roast beef I cook a roast for $6/lb.
