We wanted an alternative to installing an awning, and this umbrella fits the bill. We've had it for a couple weeks and so far we love it. It's easy to raise, lower, tilt, and swivel. Putting it together was pretty simple, but definitely requires two people so one can hold the umbrella/pole in place. Don't attach the feet if you're going to use a base because you attach it directly to the base instead. (We bought the Madeley Plastic Free Standing Umbrella Base, which uses water or sand. It does not come with a base, just criss-cross feet.) The pole and supports are stout. The umbrella does creak and move around a bit when it's windy, which I expected because physics. ;-) The material does a nice job of blocking the sun, and I love the teal color.. Gmh. This umbrella is absolutely huge—great coverage, but definitely something to consider if you have a smaller patio. It takes up more space than you might expect. It’s extremely durable and very heavy, which makes it feel sturdy and secure. One thing that isn’t obvious in the product images is that the base is also massive. As you can see in my photos, it has a large footprint, so you’ll want to plan your layout accordingly. That said, the quality is excellent. At the 300 price point, you truly get what you pay for. We ordered this umbrella to cover our patio living room table and chairs on our pool deck. This worked perfectly. Some tips for set up. Put the cross base together with the pole for the cantilever and put it in place. Then fill the weights with sand...about 75 lbs in each section of the base. Place the weights on your base, then fill each weight with water. Use a large gas funnel to fill the sand. And by the way...this umbrella goes up and down super easy and I am not super strong.. This umbrella looks really nice. I did have to order the weighted bases that fit in the X brace. But the overall price was great. And five minutes after I set up the umbrella the solar charging lights were on when I hit the switch. Would recommend it. The only downside is the umbrella does not rotate. But it’s nice.. Cynthia.
