The throat surrounding the auger will warm up in time and I recommend using an ice pack on it to avoid getting fat too warm, but this is only if doing large quantities. Overall, the construction is solid and the accessories are easy to use and attach. I found the meat tray to be very stable, I do wish it was a little bigger though. I have used lower powered grinders in the past, such as the style that attach to a mixer. Having a standalone unit with plenty of power is a game changer. I wish I would have purchased this years ago; it would have made things much easier. I have used this on venison and hope to start making sausage with it in the near future.
