I’ve got a fairly long and steep concrete driveway that is starting to show its age a little bit. There has been some minor cracking from the freeze-thaw cycle each winter. I decided to try the Armour SX5000 water-based sealant to see if it would improve the situation. I have delayed writing this review for a bit as I wanted to driveway to go through at least one winter season. I first pressure washed the entire driveway surface which is pretty time consuming. I then applied the Armour sealant with a manual pump sprayer. This part went fairly quickly. The trick is to get the sealant covering the driveway well, but not so much as to create puddles that aren’t absorbed. I made sure there was no rain in the forecast for a couple of days. Initially, I did half of the driveway first and the first day that it rained the difference on the two sides was very noticeable. Water on the coated side was beading and running off and on the other side it was being absorbed into the concrete. This is just what I hoped it would be - a solid rubber-like material to handle the 1.25-inch lip leading from my driveway into my garage. Warning: measure twice. I came up just a few inches short and needed a second order to get 100% coverage across the garage entrance. Why is this important - without 100% coverage, there would be a gap under the garage door where insects/vermin could enter. Also, if your garage door were to come down on this ramp, your automatic garage door opener's setting may cause the door to not close, but come back up, believing it hit an obstruction - so make sure you have the capacity and instructions available to adjust those settings. The order was delivered ahead of time which was great. The product is easy to assemble and got it working within few minutes. The product looks good and is usable and does the job from initial attempt. The height adjust setup is good but does not hold up and goes off and had to be adjusted repeatedly. A groove or so for different heights may have held it in place, but otherwise the product is good. It’s light weight and teenage son could push it and get the work done … Good for the price!!.
