This is very sturdy and definitely a bit nicer looking than the plastic bases. So giving it four stars for that reason. Only taking away one star because I didn’t really think about how expensive it was going to be to fill this with rocks. It cost us another 200 in rocks to fill it so it is a very expensive umbrella base. If you think about it that way. Also, I had concerns about it safety especially with kids around after it arrived so I ended up buying black bumperspool noodles to put on it for safety reasons so that kind of takes away from the aesthetic look. The umbrella is great. Large in size and attractive. The assembly was a 2 person job at times and there was a point when the arm extensions had to be put on and the instructions should have mentioned that it would be a tight fit and might require force or maybe a hammer to help to slide together. Also the umbrella is a material I wasn’t expecting. I guess I was expecting more of a cloth but it’s attractive and we shall see how it holds up to the Las Vegas sun. One last thing. Wheels under the base to help with moving it would be nice because once you fill it with water there is no moving it without draining the water. And finally, giving a demonstration that has some walls or something would be nice so people who have walls or patio tops k ow that in order for the umbrella arms to open there is some clearance around the umbrella to open.
