HAPPENED TO BE HOME WHEN PKG. ARRIVED, THESE SHARPENING RODS ARRIVED UNDAMAGED AND IN FULL WORKING ORDER AND WERE PUT DIRECTLY INTO SERVICE,...EVERY PREP. CHEF THAT USED THEM, SAID THAT THEY WERE WONDERFUL, ESPECIALLY, WHEN COMPARED TO THE HORRIBLE ONES THAT THESE REPLACED. WE HAD HOPED THAT THE SHARPENING STONES THAT WE HAD ORDERED FIRST MIGHT BE ARRIVING WITH THESE RODS, BUT THEY DID NOT,...NOR DID THEY ARRIVE A FEW DAYS AGO WHEN YOUR EMAIL NOTICE OF THEIR ARRIVAL SAID THAT THEY SHOULD BE AND, SUBSEQUENTLY HAD ALREADY BEEN DELIVERED,...BUT WHEN I CALLED YOU GUYS, I WAS TOLD TO WAIT UNTIL TODAY'S DELIVERY OF THE RODS AS THEY HAD PROBABLY BEEN SHIPPED ALONG WITH THEM, AND OR, IN THE SAME PACKAGE OR BOX, BUT THIS DID NOT OCCUR, AND NO ONE COULD REMEMBER HAVING SINGED FOR THEIR ARRIVAL. IF I CAN REQUEST THAT ONE OF YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE PEOPLE CHECK INTO THE FIRST "STONE" SHARPENERS ORDER I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT AND PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT THEY FIND OUT. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This knife sharpener is a great tool in the kitchen. I've always been really frustrated with the dull knives but didn't want to commit to the sharpening stones. This tool came in handy since it's really easy to use, you just need to glide the knife back and forward. The rubber bottom also provides a great grip so you don't slip and cut yourself. A few things you want to be careful about is that you should sharpen the knife when it's dry, or else it might leave some rust like in the image I took. It's also a little bit hard to sharpen the tip of the knife, as it tends to go out off the glider, so be careful with that. But overall, it's a good tool to sharpen knives and it does its job.. Trin. For most home chefs the sharpening steel will realign the edge and remove any niche or burr. An oval rod provides more surface contact with the edge to achieve the same results as a traditional rod but with fewer strokes.
