I got this when my German Shepherd was a puppy and I wanted to keep him out of the living room. Actually, I should say my husband was having a meltdown because he kept coming and jumping on him so I put the gate up between the dining room and the living room so my husband could have his own kennel, lol it certainly does the job and there’s a very nice gate . My German Shepherd is almost 2 now and I still have it up because he respects boundaries.. Sandra Dee. Coeur D Alene, ID. Mon Feb 10 2025

This retractable gate is the perfect solution for our multi-generational home! We have young, energetic dogs that can be too much for my mom to handle. So we got one of the big, clunky gates to keep them downstairs. Unfortunately, it was too hard for my mom to open and close and made her feel trapped. This one is so light that she has no problem. So we can keep our dogs with us and not bothering her, and she can still join us when she wants to without having to call for someone to let her downstairs.. Tracy K. Pennsylvania. Thu Sep 17 2026

The Gathered Home Gate has an additional 15 inch extension (sold separately) that will expand the gate up to 162 inches wide. The 15 inch extension is available under product number 4938. The added security and peace of mind that this gate provides is sure to please.

The gate itself is nice. However, it was shipped loose in a cardboard box, which was damaged during shipping, and one side of one of the panels was scratched all over through the paint. It's such a big item that I don't want to go through the trouble of returning it and waiting for a new one, which could also be easily damaged in transit.. Anne. NC. Wed Feb 18 2026
